You may be wondering what has been happening at Red Tent Yoga over the last few years… well, I am happy to share a bit about it. Feel free to put the kettle on, put your feet up and read on with a cup of tea. As you may know, 3 years ago, I sold the beloved Red Tent Yoga studio space and passed it onto to a young woman who brought her woman’s business into the space. Then a year later was sold onto another woman her woman’s business. Over these few years, I continued teaching a handful of prenatal & mums yoga classes in the former Red Tent Yoga space, however, basically Red Tent Yoga was on pause for these few years. In the meantime, I was busy studying – a post grad in Psychotherapy & Holistic Counselling. It was a wonderful opportunity to dive deep into myself, clean out some old cobwebs and shine some light onto some forgotten parts of myself. During the final several months of studying, I moved to NYC with my daughters & ….my Ex-hubby - yes, quite an interesting and unique situation, you may be thinking. Although, I don't’ always follow the usual rules about the ‘normal thing to do”. So I co-parented my children living in the heart of downtown Manhattan. It was an awesome time for all of us of course with it’s ups and downs. Here’s a couple of photos below. During this time, I completed my Psychotherapy studies and completed my counselling clinic hours. So I got to practice my therapy skills on real life New Yorkers... talk about being thrown in, in the deep end, lol! I definitely came out of that experience with solid experience and skills in counselling & psychotherapy. In particular, I emerged with a better understanding and special interest in the field of Trauma. This then lead me down the rabbit hole to an incredible new practice (yet also very old) known as Havening. Havening is a somatic and natural therapy that re-wires the brain and nervous system, so that traumatic pathways associated with past events and memories, can be eliminated in just a matter of minutes. I know, it sounds too good to be true. However, trust me it works, coz I’ve experienced as a client and as a therapist. It is a truly powerfully practice. As if by magic, when I looked on the Havening website, I saw that the founder of Havening was offering a Practitioner Training in 2 weeks time… and of all places, in New York. For more info on Havening click here. During this time, I made a quick trip to Scotland to connect with family roots and the ancient stone circles and sacred sites. This was my first time Scotland, and fell in LOVE with the place, so I will be back. I also made it over to the west coast near Portland to study with the founder, Arny Mindell of Process Oriented Psychotherapy, which I had been studying. He is an old dude now, very wise and open-hearted, so I was very grateful to meet him in person while he is still around. So I came back from New York just months ago, feeling rejuvenated, inspired, shined up and ready for the next thing. Fortunately I arrived back in Byron Bay just before the covid lockdown.
Over the last few months in lockdown, I have been landing back home, slowly gathering myself and breathing life back into my darling Red Tent Yoga business. She is now 11 years old, almost a teenager… and now moving into her next incarnation. She will still be a sacred space for women … this time as a supportive online community through yoga classes, courses, workshops, consultations, counselling sessions and more… much is still unknown, so lets see how she grows and develops from here. I had a realisation over the last past few years that I have been hiding behind my business – yes that was a big one to admit … putting Red Tent Yoga out front, and me behind… Well all that will be changing. You will be seeing and hearing from me a lot more from now on. Not weird spam stuff, just seeing my face around, on social media and having something meaningful to say and mostly be in service. I am still super passionate about teaching, inspiring and gathering with women, supporting pregnant women and mothers…. And creating a space for us to be still, let loose, be wild, purge through yoga, movement, breath, voice, song, therapy and come out the other end a little more familiar with our true self, and closer to knowing the powerful wild woman inside of us. tags: Pregnancy, prenatal yoga, Birth, Mother, Motherhood, Postnatal yoga, Mother & Baby yoga, Postnatal heath, baby, families, perinatal counselling, family counselling, Havening for Trauma, Eating Disorders, women, women's yoga, shakti yoga, shakti, women's health, Holistic counselling, red tent, red tent yoga, ayurveda, women's community, self care, postnatal depression, relationship counselling, birth trauma
